OVERDUE: Tackling the Sanitation Taboo across Urban Africa)
The OVERDUE project, a 3-year ESRC-funded partnership between the Sierra Leone Urban Research Centre and University College London, tackles the sanitation taboo in urban Africa. It investigates both grid and off-grid systems to generate robust evidence for equitable sanitation pathways. By convening a diverse coalition of stakeholders, the project examines sanitation as a complex socio-technical system that fundamentally shapes health, prosperity, and social dignity across African cities

CONNECTED CITIES: Beyond the Networked City
Beyond the Networked City (BNC) is a collaborative research project jointly implemented by the University of Bristol (Lead Principal Investigator) and Loughborough University in the UK, Sierra Leone Urban Research Centre in Sierra Leone, and Makerere University in Uganda. The project enhances the delivery of sustainable and resilient water, sanitation, and energy services to marginalized communities in urban cities. Case study areas of Kinawataka in Kampala, Uganda, and Portee-Rokupa in Freetown, Sierra Leone, have been selected to represent communities in the two studied cities.
