SLURC to host mobilising resources workshop with Dr. Zeremariam Fre,
October, 2018

Picture
The Sierra Leone Urban Research Centre is organising a training workshop on Mobilising resources which will be delivered by Dr. Zeremariam Fre, a Teaching Fellow and course tutor at The Bartlett Development Planning Unit of University College London with vast experience in the Horn of Africa and globally.

The course will run from 22-25 October, 9:30am - 4:30 pm, at GEM, 57 John Street, Freetown

Aims of the workshop are for participants to:
- Have a better understanding of available global funding opportunities, shifting donor interests and how the funding system works globally and specifically within Africa and Sierra Leone
- Gain specific skills on how to structure, prepare, and write good funding proposals as well as how to follow up on the funding application once submitted
- Get hands on experience in fundraising by working in groups and develop specific thematic proposals for funding

It covers areas such as the funding landscape; fundraising strategy and techniques; proposal development; and exercises on assessing specific donor guidelines. The workshop is targeted at those within CBOs, (I)NGOs, Academia and local and central government that would benefit from a better understanding of funders, their expectations and how to submit impactful funding applications. While day one will provide a more general overview of funding and is suitable for all staff, days two to four will be more detailed and for those writing funding applications.

Email Andrea Klingel, SLURC Project Manager at aklingel@slurc.org to request a place on the workshop, or call 079 995463 for questions.
