                                                                                                  Become a Board Member!

Are you passionate about making a difference and leaving no one behind?

The Sierra Leone Urban Research Centre (SLURC) is currently looking for a new member with Finance and/or Accounting expertise to join its Management Board to assist with the organisation’s strategic direction working towards an inclusive, socially and environmentally just urban Sierra Leone. Ideally we would like a female, Sierra Leonean  (local or diaspora) candidate to join us.

Become part of the Management Board of a unique and reputable organisation, the only research centre in Sierra Leone, which aims to produce knowledge through research about urban issues especially affecting informal settlements and to build capacity amongst urban stakeholders to influence policy and decision making. Our work spans across a range of urban issues from urban health to planning and housing, risk and resilience, urban mobility and transport, and urban livelihoods and the city economy.  SLURC has been established in partnership with the Development Planning Unit at University College London (UK) and Njala University with offices located at 17a Hill Cot Road, Freetown. Participation at board meetings can be either in person or online (through Zoom).

Even though this is a volunteer role, travel and accommodation is being reimbursed and the rewards of being on the board of an organisation undertaking such important and meaningful work are immense. You will also have the opportunity to network with many local and international stakeholders of SLURC. The time commitment is 4 board meetings a year as well as time for preparation and some ad-hoc requests.

For more information, please refer to the Role profile and Expression of interest form. Please contact Andrea Klingel, Director of Operations (aklingel@slurc.org or +232 79995463) if you have any questions.
