Marwa Barakat 
Communication & Fundraising Officer 
 
Marwa is a UCL Fellow, who joined SLURC in 2023 as the Communication and Fundraising Officer. She is an urban researcher and practitioner, originally from Egypt. She holds a Master's degree in Urban development planing from UCL, London, UK; and a Postgraduate degree in Architecture from Cairo University, Cairo, Egypt. Her experience in the field of urban development and planning varied between working in the government, private sector and civil society organizations. She delivered consultancies to many research institutions, universities and United Nations Organizations in Egypt and the MENA region. Her work focuses in different aspects of sustainable integrated urban development and governance, spatial justice, and gender & feminist studies.
