
Hawanatu Bangura
Research Officer
For the past four (4) years, Hawanatu (Awa) has been working with the Sierra Leone Urban Research Centre (SLURC), initially as a Field Researcher on the action research project ‘AT2030 - Assistive Technology for All’ funded by the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), through the Global Disability and Innovation Hub (GDI Hub). She now works as a Research Officer in which role she works across a variety of research projects addressing urban issues at SLURC. Some of the research projects she has worked with include the African Cities Research Consortium (Informal Settlements Domain, Political Settlements, and the Uptake), and the Walkability project. She currently works with the Accountability and Responsiveness in Informal Settlements (ARISE) to promote health and wellbeing in informal settlements.
Awa has a background in Accounting and Finance and is particularly interested in participatory planning, accessibility, and inclusion.
