Hawanatu Bangura
Field Researcher AT 2030

Hawanatu (Awa) joined the team in April 2019, coming with a 5 years experience working on various high profile projects both within the private and public sectors. Before this position, while working with the team developing the Transform Freetown Plan of Freetown City Council, Awa coordinated and led the content development of four sectors in the plan, including disability. She also worked with the President's Delivery Team on the Operation Clean Freetown Initiative - a project that manages the solid waste of Freetown City.

At SLURC, Awa leads the UK Aid funded AT2030 action research project; "Community-led solutions: Assistive Technologies in informal settlements" in Freetown. With the project's strong focus on people with disabilities, Awa works directly with two informal settlements (Dworzack and Thompson Bay).

Awa has a background in Accounting and Finance and is particularly interested in participatory planning, accessibility and inclusion.

Her contact details are hbangura@slurc.org or +23278775378.
