Abu Conteh
Senior Researcher

Abu Conteh is a Senior Researcher at the Sierra Leone Urban Research Centre and head of the Urban Health Cluster. He supervises different research projects focusing on multiple social determinants of health, such as environmental hazards, sanitation risks and place. Some of the research projects he has worked with include the GCRF funded Accountability for Equity Hub (ARISE), a partnership led by the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine to promote health accountability in informal settlements. He has also led other projects such as the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) funded Shock Tactics project, jointly implemented with the Institute of Development Studies (IDS) to explore health and community resilience strategies after the Ebola outbreak. He recently worked with the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) to conduct two studies focusing on perceptions of COVID-19 response and vaccination, and gendered experiences of vaccination in informal settlements. Abu is currently a PhD candidate at the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, in the United Kingdom.
